:sheaf_of_rice: Community Agreements

This forum is a collaborative space for sharing stories, tools, and strategies related to local and regionally adapted seeds. These agreements help us show up with care and clarity.

What This Space Is For

:white_check_mark: Sharing interviews, resources, and insights about the work of growing, distributing, and organizing around seeds
:white_check_mark: Connecting with others working on seed education, outreach, and regional networks
:white_check_mark: Improving shared materials like guides, tools, and public-facing content

What It’s Not For (Yet)

:prohibited: Step-by-step seed saving or growing advice—we’ll build or link to those resources soon
:prohibited: Selling or promoting unrelated products or services
:prohibited: Religious content or political debate—we ask that you keep this space focused on shared seed work

Core Guidelines

1. Speak from your experience
We value grounded stories and practical knowledge. It’s okay to be unsure—this is a learning space.

2. Name what’s missing with care
Offer feedback in the spirit of improvement. If something feels off or unclear, we want to know.

3. Respect others’ time and efforts
Before starting a new post, check if a similar topic exists. Use tags to help others find and contribute.

4. Credit your sources
If you’re sharing someone else’s words, ideas, or tools, name them when you can.

5. No hate, harassment, or unsafe behavior
This includes:

  • Dismissive or mocking comments about people’s identity, language, or background
  • Repeated pushback against coalition values around equity, access, and community care
  • Unsolicited DMs, dogpiling, or dominating discussion in a way that silences others
  • Sharing private content without permission
  • Any pattern of behavior that makes others feel unsafe or unable to participate

Moderators may remove posts or users without warning if these lines are crossed.

6. Help us keep the space organized
Moderators may move or split topics to keep things easy to navigate. Don’t take it personally—we’re just tidying.
If you see a post that belongs somewhere else or needs a clearer title, you can flag it or gently suggest a fix in the thread.

7. Shared resources are open to all
Anything posted in the Resource Sharing category is part of our shared commons. Unless clearly marked otherwise, you’re giving permission for others to use, adapt, remix, and redistribute it—with no expectation of credit. These materials may evolve through many hands. Please don’t post anything here that you’re not comfortable releasing publicly.

If You See a Problem, Flag It

Moderators have special authority; they are responsible for this forum. But so are you. With your help, moderators can be community facilitators, not just janitors or police.

When you see bad behavior Just flag it. Action will be taken, either automatically or by moderator intervention.

In order to maintain our community, moderators reserve the right to remove any content and any user account for any reason at any time. Moderators do not preview new posts; the moderators and site operators take no responsibility for any content posted by the community.

Post Only Your Own Stuff

You may not post anything digital that belongs to someone else without permission. You may not post descriptions of, links to, or methods for stealing someone’s intellectual property (software, video, audio, images), or for breaking any other law.

Questions or Concerns?

If you see something harmful or out of place, flag the post or email us at localseeds@goingtoseed.org. A volunteer moderator will respond.

Thanks for helping make this a collaborative, thoughtful space.
